I'm pretty pumped about this month's tune. It has Sammy all over it. I was trying to make it in like lion, out like a lamb. It turned out the best way to do that was I wrote the music to the "lion" and Sam wrote the "lamb." He made adjustments to my half and really made it blend. We had fun arranging it because of how complicated it is(or how complicated i made it seem!) That's Sam playing the guitar on the recording. It is so clearly his touch. He also plays the second solo, or the Lamb solo as I've been calling it. The slide solo is Bluesman Jay. He has been so crucial in keeping me on track with the original spirit of the project. There isn't a single musical idea I've ever done without bouncing it off him first. Jay and Sam are the band.
-An interesting side note. Sam and I got together on the eleventh to write the music. It took me a full eleven days to write the words, which is unprecedented for me. I see 11:11 twice a day on clocks. I see it on Licence plates, in print, math, conversation, everywhere. I can't escape it! It seems so fitting to me that a song this polar would have been created on my numbers schedule.
It's an 11/11...how cosmic.
